Ce travail porte sur le Commentaire sur Daniel de Jérôme ; il consiste d’abord en une traduction annotée (notes littéraires, historiques, philologiques, théologiques, exégétiques) de l’ouvrage édité par F. Glorie dans le CCSL 75A (1964), ainsi qu’en une édition critique du traité De Antichristo. Le commentaire qui accompagne cette traduction vise à mettre en valeur :1. Le travail de Jérôme sur le texte biblique (Jérôme et la Bible ; la réception des parties deutérocanoniques ; le texte des lemmes) ;2. La recherche des sources utilisées par l’auteur (Porphyre ; Eusèbe de Césarée ; Apollinaire de Laodicée ; Méthode d’Olympe ; Hippolyte ; Origène ; Victorin de Poetovio ; sources juives) ;3. L’originalité de ce commentaire par rapport aux autres travaux exégétiques de Jérôme (Jérôme et le commentaire biblique ; le caractère exceptionnel du Commentaire sur Daniel ; le sens littéral ; le sens spirituel ; la prophétie) ;4. Le traitement des prophéties à visée historique et apocalyptique (la théorie de la succession des Empires dans le Commentaire sur Daniel : du sens de l’histoire aux temps derniers ; la venue de l’Antichrist ; le second avènement du Christ) ;5. La présentation de l’édition critique du De Antichristo : F. Glorie considère que cet opuscule, écrit en 391 à la demande de Paulin de Nole, a été complété et inséré en 407 dans le Commentaire sur Daniel : qu’en est-il au regard des manuscrits ? L’édition repose sur une douzaine de témoins carolingiens, dont une très large part n’avait pas été prise en compte par F. Glorie. |

This work treats with the Commentay on Daniel by Jerome; it consists first of an annotated translation (literary, historical, philological, theological and exegetical notes of the work edited by F. Glorie in CCSL 75A (1964), and of an edition of the treatise De Antichristo. The commentary which accompanies this translation aims to present:1. The work of Jerome on the biblical text (Jerome and the Bible; the acceptance of the deuterocanonical sections; the text of the lemma);2. The research into the sources used by the author (Porphyry; Eusebius of Caesarea; Apollinarius of Laodicea; Methodius of Olympus; Hippolytus; Origen; Victorinus of Poetovio; Jewish sources);3. The originality of this commentary in relation to other exegetical works of Jerome (Jerome and the biblical commentary; the exceptional nature of Commentary on Daniel; literal sense; spiritual sense; prophecy);4. The treatment of prophecy in connection with history and escatology (the theory of the succesion of Empires in the Commentary on Daniel: from the way of the history until to the last days; the coming of the Antichrist; the second coming of the Christ);5. The presentation of the critical edition of De Antichristo: F. Glorie considers that this opuscule, written in 391 at the request of Paulinus of Nola, was completed and included in 407 in the Commentary on Daniel: is this hypothesis confirmed in study of the manuscripts? This text was edited from a dozen Carolingian manuscripts of which many were not considered by F. Glorie. |
