Après 1964, le service éducatif de la Société duSacré-Coeur de Jésus subit une mutation rapide.Cette rénovation représente-t-elle une trahisondu projet initial ou se fait-elle en fidélité àla pensée les fondateurs, Léonor de Tournély et Sophie Barat ?Pour en juger, il est nécessaire de se référer àl'étape de fondation (1800-1826). L'Institut est conçu sur le modèle ignatien ouvert à unepluralité d'actions éducatives, mais la clôtureconventuelle restreint celle-ci. En réponse audéfi sociétaire du moment, l'audace de SophieBarat consiste à introduire la rhétorique et lagéographie astronomique au programme despensionnaires. Ce choix correspond aux visées duplan éducatif fondateur : rendre apte à reconnaître le plan de Dieu à l'oeuvre dans lemonde et reconstituer le tissu social parl'influence des femmes de milieux dirigeants.L'enjeu proposé aux écolières et aux pensionnairesest de faire connaître et aimer le Coeur du Christ à toutes les nations, à travers divers engagements.La deuxième partie de la réflexion, "Vers l'accomplissement de l'image", retrace le processus de refondation institutionnelle (1964-1987). Lors du "renouveau du service éducatif", une nouvelle problématique missionnaire prend forme, celle de la rencontre. Sur horizon international, son enjeu appelle de nouveaux acteurs et de nouvelles priorités. "Quand la métaphore biblique du fleuve se fait vive" dans la culture institutionnelle, la finalité ordonnatrice est interprétée. Reconnaître la présence du Christ en toute vie, particulièrement dans l'humanité blessée, en fonde la dignité. Le corollaire est de s'engager en vue "d'accomplir toute justice",spécialement auprès des plus défavorisés. Aujourd'hui comme hier, il s'agit de former à une manière d'être-au-monde, dont le Christ est source et modèle. Apprendre à discerner pour construire une société internationale, plus humaine, devient alors l'objectif éducatif prioritaire, dans la diversité des formes et des lieux d'intervention. |

After 1964, the service of education in the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus underwent rapid change. Did this renewal represent a betrayal of the initial plan or was it faithful to the mind of the founders, Léonor de Tournély and Sophie Barat ?To be able to judge this, it is necessary to refer to the time of the foundation (1800-1826). The Institute was conceived on the ignatian model open to a variety of educational activities, but conventual enclosure restricted it. Responding to the challenge of society at that time, Sophie Barat boldly introduced rhetoric and astronomical geography to the syllabus for the boarding-school girls. This choice fitted into the aims of the founder's plan for education: ability to recognise God's plan at work in the world and to restore the social network through the influence of women from the ruling classes. The goal put before the pupils and boarders is commitment in various ways to making the Heart of Christ known and lobed by all nations.The second part of the study, "Completing the picture", retraces the process of the refoundation of the Institute (1964-1987). The question of encounters at a missionary level was taking shape at the time of the "renewal of the service of education". At an international level new players and new priorities are called for. The governing aim is interpreted in the culture of the Institute "when the biblical metaphor of the river is living"Its dignity is based on the recognition of the presence of Christ in all life, particularly in wounded humanity. The corollary is to commit oneself in view of "fulfilling all justice", especially towards the most disadvantaged. Today as yesterday, it consists in showing a way to be in the world of which Christ is the source and model. To learn how to discern in order to construct a more humane international society then becomes the primary educational objective, in a diversity of forms and places. |
